My acne story | Review of the Clear Start Products from Dermalogica

November 19, 2018
I have been wanting to be a way more open on my blog and talk about real sh*t, so let's talk.

For those who might not know this, I have acne. I have had acne since I have started puberty at the age of 10, I would get the occasional break out here and there. However, my acne got worst once I got into middle school, my pimples would get redder and my dark spot would get darker, It was never something that bothered me, until the summer of 2017 when my acne got the worst it ever has been.

I felt uncomfortable wearing makeup and not wearing makeup, this definitely affected my confidence level, eventually, it got better and my skin started clearing up after I got prescribed this cream and this pill by doctors (I don't remember the name of these products, unfortunately) after a couple of months I stopped using it and my skin only got worst.

Fast forward to just months of weeks ago, I was desperate to just have better skin and I was feeling a little hopeless that my skin will ever get better, people would tell me it's probably genetics or my eating habits ect. all of these theories on my acne lead me to deprive myself of certain food but still no progress.

All of this struggle came to an end when I was sent two complementary products by Influenster in the box contained two products from the Clear Start Line by Dermalogica, I was gifted the Blackhead Clearing Fizz Mask and the Breakout Clearing Booster, now when I tell you this change my skin for the better.

The Blackhead Clearing Fizz Mask

The Blackhead Clearing Fizz Mask from Dermalogica was so much fun to use and made me fall in love with masks since I was never really a mask fanatic. I use this product every other day or after a long makeup day. To use this product you simply apply it all over your face, the mask mousses up by itself, and you let it sit for about 3-5 min, and simply rinse it out afterwards. This product deep cleanses your pores to clean out all the dirt. This product does have a smell to it, which didn't bother me that much however if you are sensitive to scented products I recommend avoiding your nose area when applying, also note that if you have breakouts that are open when applying the mask you might feel a burning sensation.

The Blackhead Clearing Fizz Mask is available at Sephora and the Dermalogica website for 28$ (Canadian)

Breakout Clearing Booster

I enjoyed using the Breakout Clearing Booster from Dermalogica. I use it before I go to bed and when I wake up. It has become an essential tool in my skin care routine. It’s perfect to use when I wake up with a horrible red breakout, it calms down the irritation and the redness. I saw amazing results after the first use my skin was less red and it looked healthier and gave me a glow. After a few weeks of using my skin started clearing up and I would fewer breakouts. The product does carry a particular smell, it didn't bother me that much but it's something to keep in mind if you are sensitive to scented products it also gave me a tingling feeling when applying the product on my face. I recommend mixing it with your moisturizer to save time in the morning.

The Breakout Clearing Booster is available at Sephora and the Dermalogica website for 28$ (Canadian)

Final thoughts

Overall these products were great and very fun to use. They helped me tamed my acne and feel more comfortable in my own skin. I would definitely recommend this product to someone who suffers from acne, 28$ to some might be pricey for some but the products are definitely worth the try. The products are also gluten-free, vegan, paraben-free, cruelty-free and have no artificial fragrances of colours.

Below will be pictures of my progress
